A physics board for video commentary.

Paste a PNG, grab it anywhere, and it swings, falls and flies like a real object. Record the window with OBS. What you do live is the take.

3D Studio · I

Pose a 3D model, then flatten it onto the board

Open a Minecraft skin or a glTF model, turn it to the angle you want and pose its limbs. Enter freezes it onto the board as an image. Shift+Enter splits it into parts hinged at the joints, so the arms still swing when you pick it up.

J turns the rig into a ragdoll. Back on the board, Alt and the scroll wheel still turn it in 3D.

Text · T   Pen · D

Write on it while you talk

The Text tool types straight onto the board. Shift+T breaks a line into words or letters, and each one drops with its own weight.

The pen draws over everything, for circling a detail or putting an X over someone's eyes. Shift+D turns a drawing into an object that falls like the rest.

Lights

Put a lamp next to it

Switch the lights on and the board goes dark except around the lamps you place. A lamp is an object, so you can drag it while recording.

Models from the Studio carry normal maps. Light one from the left and its left side brightens. A sun gives the whole scene one direction.

Camera · scroll wheel

Punch in on the detail

Scroll to zoom the camera. It moves on a spring, so a quick scroll overshoots a little and settles, and the recording gets the same motion.

Zooming the view with − and = only changes what you see, so the panels around the frame stay out of the shot.

Record mode · Tab

Press Tab and hit record

Tab hides every panel, handle and hover outline. What stays is the 1920×1080 frame and your cursor, drawn large so it still reads in the video.

Kukla runs in its own window, so OBS captures it cleanly and no browser shortcut closes it halfway through a take.

Every action has a key

They follow Blender where they can: G moves, R rotates, S scales. Your other hand stays on the keyboard while the mouse performs. F1 lists all of them inside the app.

Kukla Trial · 14 days

$24one time, USD

  • 14 days with everything unlocked. No card, no sign-up. It starts the first time you open it.
  • After that, it keeps working. Recordings get a small “Made with Kukla” mark and the 3D Studio locks. A key removes both.
  • One key, two computers. Move it later by deactivating the old one from the license panel.
  • Works offline. It checks the key when it can and runs for 30 days without a connection.
  • Updates install themselves. A button appears in the top bar when one is ready. Your scene is saved first.

Purchases are final. Use the trial to make sure Kukla fits.

Windows will ask about it once

The installer is not code-signed yet, so the first time you open it, SmartScreen shows a blue warning. Click More info, then Run anyway. After that it installs like anything else, and it updates itself.

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. The installer is about 4 MB.

Questions

Is there a Mac version?
Not yet. Kukla is Windows only for now.
Where do my scenes go?
On your computer. The board saves itself as you work, and Ctrl+S writes a scene file you can keep or move.
How does the key arrive?
By email, a few seconds after you pay. Paste it into the license panel from the badge in the top bar.
Why no refunds?
The trial is the whole app for two weeks, so you know exactly what you are buying.

Kukla is a board you perform on. You paste images onto it, grab them with the mouse, and they behave like objects with weight: they hang from the point you hold, swing when you move, and keep their momentum when you let go. OBS records the window. There is no timeline to edit afterwards, because the take is what you did live.

I made it for the short analysis scenes in my own videos, so the animation happens while I talk instead of in the editor afterwards.
